Antonia Schäfer

Research Associate

Antonia is a designer who combines her experience in user research, design research, interaction design, and digital technologies to create innovative teaching and learning experiences for public spaces.

She has particular expertise in design research, futures studies, user research, and interaction design, through projects at the Fraunhofer CeRRI and at the Hasso Plattner Institute in the Design Thinking Basic and Advanced Track, where she redesigned the daycare placement process in Potsdam, among other things. She applied this expertise in the IFAF Berlin-funded research project PIIQUE, which focuses on designing an inclusive daycare routine, improving professional-child interactions, and advancing the continuing education of early childhood educators in practice.

Antonia's interest in design and technology has accompanied her since her studies in communication design at HTW Berlin. In her bachelor's thesis, she examined how people respond to a voice assistant with its own will. During her master's studies in strategic design at HfG Schwäbisch Gmünd, she focused on the future of voice assistants and how interaction and social roles could be designed.

Her current research focuses on the project "MyAppMyData," which aims to promote the development of digital competencies among school students through the steps of app development and prototyping, and to ensure through research methods that this teaching and learning concept can be sustainably integrated into school curricula.
