Venice Unfolding connects large-scale geovisualizations with innovative interaction methods to display projects on architecture and their characteristics on a multitouch tabletop in a graspable way. It allows browsing these data interactively by selecting and filtering various metadata facets by tilting a physical object.
 
 
Tina Deiml-Seibt has a Meisterschüler Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Arts (UDK) Berlin, and a MA in Interface Design from the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam. As a Research Associate, she joined the IDL from the very start, working on different projects within the research focus of „social computing“ and „Online- Communities“.
 
 
At the Interaction Design Lab, we consider visualization as one of our core competences. Our approach to visualization blends scientific information visualization with a unique understanding of form, interaction and usage. We believe that design principles and design thinking should be applied to the development of information and data visualizations.

The interactive installation »mæve« (MACE-Everyville) provides visual and tangible access to the social and intellectual networks behind architectural projects. The installation was part of the 11th International Architecture Exhibition of the Venice Biennale 2008.
 
 
Prof. Boris Müller has a Diploma in Graphic Design from the Hochschule für Künste Bremen (College of Art and Design Bremen, Germany) and a MA in Computer Related Design from the Royal College of Art London. He has worked for a number of international clients and companies like MetaDesign San Francisco, the Science Museum London and the Fraunhofer Institute for Media Communication in Bonn. In recent years, we designed and realized successful new forms of visualizing information for individual and collaborative exploration on interactive surfaces. In the Interaction Design Lab we have available our self-developed large scale maeve table, three Multitouch cells, and one Microsoft Surface table.

The »Innovationsforum Interaktionsdesign« was a two-day conference, held on the 30th and 31st March 2007 in the new home of the Hans Otto Theatre Potsdam.
 
 
This week (Dec 9, 2009), the Microsoft Surface was setup at the Interaction Design Lab. First impressions: Multi-touch works very well and is really snappy, as is the overall responsiveness.
